The community of Austintown is mourning the tragic loss of 30-year-old Zachary Fisher following a fatal shooting on New Road. The incident has left family members, friends, and local residents devastated as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, Zachary Fisher suffered a fatal gunshot wound during the incident and was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he later died. Officials confirmed that his death was reported shortly after 8 a.m., and an autopsy was conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police from the Austintown Police Department responded to emergency calls reporting gunfire near New Road and Laurie Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Fisher critically injured while a bystander attempted CPR before emergency responders took over lifesaving efforts.
Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from a confrontation linked to a vehicle incident involving two cars at the scene. Authorities later processed an orange hatchback and a pickup truck as part of the investigation, and both were removed for further examination.
